Cindy

YOB 2005, at WPS 2014-2025
Mare, 11.3 hands, Grey Welsh Pony

It has been exceptionally difficult to type up a goodbye to our beloved Cindy because by writing this, it makes it real. We are absolutely crushed to announce that we had to say goodbye to Cindy this afternoon. Having been a part of the WPS family for such a long time, the barn certainly feels a lot emptier tonight. Originally coming to us to "just spend the winter here" while her summer camp outfit was out of season, Cindy was only intended to be a temporary addition. As that next summer rolled around, the call never came to pick her up. Months turned into years and years turned into more than a decade, how lucky are we that we hit the jackpot and got to keep her! Cindy was the true definition of an all-around unicorn. From pony rides to trails, beginner lessons to jumping, horse shows to pony painting, there was nothing that Cindy couldn't do. What she lacked for in size she made up for in personality, and man, there was a lot of it. In her younger years, Cindy could be seen heading off to shows, jumping fences bigger than herself, swimming in the creek, and dragging any kid who thought they stood a chance around their lessons. Small but mighty, as they say. As she got older, Cindy's enthusiasm and love for life didn't change. On any given day she could be found galloping around her pasture, stirring up her friends for a game of chase, nipping at volunteers as they jogged her along to teach a beginner how to trot for their first time, or sneaking out of the trail ride line to grab a few bites of grass before heading back to the group. A pony like Cindy is one of a kind, irreplaceable, and unforgettable. When it's this difficult to say goodbye, it means that we did it right. We loved Cindy to the absolute fullest extent and she had the best life a pony could ever wish for thanks to all of her friends and family at Wheaton. In another life, we'll have more time together but until then we have to say goodbye and rest easy to our little Princess Cinderella.

Looking forward to our Future

Our future to stay within this community was on shaky ground. We are in a much better place (as of November 2023) than we were two years ago. Updates to come.
Thank you to all who testified on our behalf at the May 19, 2022, hearing and for the letters sent in! Your overwhelming support is so awe-inspiring! We plan to stay here for you and for future generations to enjoy!
